Adam’s ballet Giselle is one of the historical reference period of High Romanticism and the most played work my international ballet ensembles Since it was first staged in Paris in 1841, Giselle has held the attention of audiences all around the world – merited not only to the touching romantic story by librettists Théophile Gautier and Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges, but also the melodic and rhythmic lightness of the music by renowned composer of the Romantic period Adolphe Charles Adam. The ballet, which today ranks among the oldest and most enter taining works of classical ballet literature – will be staged in its academic purity and brilliance - as staged by Rafael Avnikjan.
