Les Ballets Bubeníček guest performance

The new SND building, Opera and Ballet hall

Freely inspired by Greek mythology.

Jiří and Otto Bubeníčk, both Prague Dance Conservatory graduates rank among the most renowned Czech dancers. The circus background from which they came led them to ballet. Both men have collaborated with choreographer John Neumeier at the Hamburg Ballet were Otto remained. Jiří fused his future in dance with the Dresden Semperoper. Post-career they have been further involved in the joint project Les Ballets Bubeníček for which Jiří creates the choreography and Otto is responsible for the set design and music. Both are attributed to works characteristic of their playfulness and openness to new momentum. In their new Orpheus project (World premiere September 2016), they exceed the boundaries of dance, physical movement, words and music. The performance is inspired by a story from Greek mythology, the greatest musician and singer – Orpheus, and brings together leading artists from different genres and countries. In addition to Jiří and Otto Bubeníček, the stage will also be graced by German dancer Anna Herrmann, who has worked for many years in the Netherlands Dance Theatre at The Hague and popular Slovak actor Csongor Kassai, who is also known as a performer, having acted in several movement theatre and contemporary dance projects. Czech cellist Terezie Kovalová and French violinist Annabelle Dugast will also be making an appearance.
