Slovak National Theatre Director General

Opera and television director Marián Chudovský was born in Banská Bystrica (1959). Marián studied directing at the Bratislava Academy of Performing Arts under Doc. Branislav Kriška. Marián Chudovský worked as a director and dramaturge at the Košice State Opera (1984-88) and as its artistic director (1986-88), as artistic director of the SND Opera in Bratislava (1988-89), artistic director and director of the State Opera in Banská Bystrica (1991 - 1993), musical theatre director at Nova Scena in Bratislava (1993-1996), director at TV Markiza (1996-2002) and director of the National Theatre Opera in Bratislava (2002-06) in addition to the companies, Marián has directed the Bratislava Chamber Opera, the Ostrava National Moravian-Silesian Theatre opera, the Prague National Theatre Opera in the Brno National Theatre Janacek Opera and the Bergen Vest Norges Opera. As a director Marián has been credited with some eighty opera and operetta stagings.
His productions have been staged at festivals and shows in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Switzerland and Japan. In addition to his theatrical work, regularly works as a director and screenwriter with Slovak Television; Some of his television works have been shown at major European festivals (Zlatá Praha (Golden Prague), Grand Prix d'Italia, Cannes).
Since the 1st of July 2012 Marián Chudovský has been the Slovak national Theatre Director General.

His stagings at the SND Opera include Verdi's Rigoletto (1987), La Traviata (1992), Macbeth (2003) and I due Foscari (2010), Simon Boccanegra (2016), Cilea's Adriana Lecouvreur (1989), Tchaikovsky's The Maid of Orleans (2001) and The Queen of Spades (2014 ), Bizet's Carmen (2002), Franz Lehár’s operettas The Merry Widow (2005), the Mascagni-Leoncavallo double-bill Cavalleria Rusticana - Pagliacci (2006), Boris Godunov (2008) and the dramatic legend of The Damnation of Faust by H. Berlioz (2016).
