DANIEL ČAPKOVIČ was born in Smolenice, Slovakia in 1977. While studying vocal music under prof. Robert Szücs at the Bratislava Conservatory, he also completed the study of music education at the College of Education of Komenský University. He has successfully participated in several vocal competitions at home and abroad. In 1999 he became a laureate of the Imrich Godin International Vocal Competition in Vráble and of the 34th Antonín Dvořák International Vocal Competition in Karlovy Vary. Among his other awards are the first prize in the category of “Opera”, an Antonín Dvořák prize, and the overall first place in the 36th Antonín Dvořák International Vocal Competition in Karlovy Vary. In 2002 and 2006 he became a laureate of the 17th and 19th Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský International Vocal Competition and a year later a laureate of the 9th Czech and Slovak International Vocal Competition in Montreal, Canada.  His interpretative skills have been perfected by completing Eva Randová’s and Eva Blahová’s master vocal courses. In 2003-2004 season, he won a scholarship for Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, Austria where he studied vocal music under KS Gottfried Hornik and created opera characters in the Theater im Palais. Currently Daniel Čapkovič is a soloist of the Opera of the Slovak National Theater in Bratislava, Slovakia where he has been Papageno in The Magic Flute, Ping in Turandot, Silvio in Pagliacci, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore (The Elixir of Love), Schaunard in La bohème, etc.
