Rastislav Štúr studied conducting at Brno´s JAMU. He has been conductor with the Slovak National Theatre since 1996, being responsible for successful productions of ´The Magic Flute´, ´The Bartered Bride´, ´Nabucco´, ´The Maid of Orléans´, ´Andrea Chénier´, and Donizetti’s ´The Daughter of the Regiment´. He has also worked on several opera and ballet productions at the National Theatre in Brno. He has been conductor of well received opera productions in Austria and Germany, and in 1999 was entrusted with a staging of ´The Bartered Bride´ in Strasbourg. On the concert platform he has appeared with stars such as Montserrat Caballé and Gabriela Beňačková, and has worked on CD profiles Peter Dvorský and Jolana Fogašová. He is also engaged in orchestral work, particularly with the Slovak Philharmonic and Prague´s FOK.
