Pushkin’s story used by Tchaikovsky for his opera Eugen Onegin (1879) is not only a critical opinion on the social situation in Czarist Russia. It is also a supratemporal study on a human psyche, inner fights among the desire, conscience, duty and social necessity. Our production is extraordinary also because of the fact, that it was staged by one of the most acknowledged opera makers of our days, the German director Peter Konwitschny.

Running time: 2 hrs 50 mins with one interval
