A native of Bratislava, one of the great figures of the late Classical period, went down in the history of music as a brilliant conductor, virtuoso pianist and prolific composer, having left a mark in practically all musical genres. As opposed to his concertos, Hummel´s operas have fallen into oblivion and the 20th century hardly knew him as a composer of musico-dramatic works. Rediscovering Hummel´s legacy is a modern trend of searching for and finding eternal values in forgotten works of the past.
Hummel´s masterpiece is staged in French-Slovak cooperation. France is represented by the conductor Didier Talpain and several vocalists, among them the star tenor Phillippe Do. Slovakia makes its contribution with the brilliant orchestra ensemble Solamente naturali, the SND Opera Chorus and a cast of soloists headed by Adriana Kohútková.
