Beauty that entails sadness is breathtaking. The monumentality of this modern tragedy that – in its specific message – sparks the illuminating mundane-ness of our life stories. Tragicomedy characters, characters and heroes who metaphorically shake off the reflection of our European presence and shared experiences. Justifiably the most awarded and most played contemporary German playwright (eg. Klaras Verhältniss and Diebe performed in Slovakia) wrote a play of ancient dimensions and depths. A suggestive poetic language in a mosaic of tragicomic stories that meet and intertwine. A town by the sea. Two illegal immigrants idly watch as a young woman disappears into the depths of the sea. Guilt starts to overcome them. They have to come to terms with their guilt and innocence, a woman who yearns for a child, a philosopher who burns her books, a man who escorts people on their final journeys and a mother who can’t detach herself from her adult children. The eternal ethical categories encounter a modern, a global and collectively intimate experience. Innocent shines like a comet on the great European stages and promises an extraordinary human and artistic experience…
