Learning Projects

Let’s talk about theatre, be not afraid of discussion ...

Target group:

Primary and secondary school students and their teachers, as well as additional groups having seen or wishing to attend one of the performances in the repertoire of the SND Drama Company.

Content:

The project addresses those groups of viewers who wish to learn more about the background of the story, its characters, interpretation of the work and the general rules of theatre. Prior to the performance the lecturer in dramaturgy takes you through the production that you are about to see. He or she will introduce you to the author of the play in different contexts, the poetics of the production, the way the director works and interpretation of the piece. They won’t skip the general rules of making theatre and of its functioning. Our desire is to help you come to the theatre well prepared to fully enjoy the performance.

After the performance, the lecturer in dramaturgy returns to you and analyses for you the performance in professional manner. He or she will discuss with you what you have seen, as well as the workings of theatre in general.

Though you are not required to attend both the introductory and the post-performance analytical lectures to join the project, we do recommend you make the most of both.

To maximise your theatre experience, we recommend that you join the project From text to Performance.

Project participation – prerequisites:

You can agree the specific form of implementation directly with the lecturer. The lectures and discussions can be held in the attractive space of the theatre, or, if you wish, directly in your school or elsewhere by prior arrangement. The number of participants is limited to c. 40.

Duration of lecture: 60 minutes

Special bonus:

At the end of the lecture you may join a quiz. The winner receives from the SND Drama Company a special prize – details will be given to you upon joining the project. The results of the quiz and the winner are announced in each group.
