Tijuana Križman Hudernik

After successfully completing her studies at the Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet in 2002, the Slovenian dancer studied for two years at the Academy of La Scala in Milan. In the same year, she became a member of the Maribor Ballet Company, where she has been a soloist since 2008.
She began her dancing career while still a student, performing in ballets such as Graduation Ball, Giselle and the Nureyev Gala, held at Milan's Teatro degli Arcimboldi to celebrate the 190th anniversary of the founding of the Academy of Ballet.
Her repertoire includes major roles in the classical ballet repertoire such as Sleeping Beauty (Princess Aurora), The Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Fairy, Clara), The Swan Lake (Pas de trois), La Bayadère (Gamzati), La Sylphide (Effie), Le Corsaire (Gulnare), La Fille mal gardée (Lise), Giselle and Cinderella. She has also interpreted solo characters in contemporary and neoclassical works such as Radio and Juliet (Juliet), Zorba the Greek (Marie in Wozzeck, Marina), Eugene Onegin (Olga), Madame Bovary (Felicité), Peer Gynt (Ingrid, Solvieg) and others, danced in Quatro, Prêt-à-porter, Watching Others, Europe Today, The Architecture of Silence, The Masters of Time, Sweetly, Stabat Mater, Carmina Burana, Handmann, Le sacre du printemps, Falling Angels, Les Noces.
She has toured extensively to Luxembourg, Italy, France, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Singapore, the United States, Canada, Colombia, South Korea, the Russian Federation, Brazil, Japan, Portugal and Finland.
She has received many awards and prizes from ballet competitions, including 1st prize (1998, Klagenfurt), 3rd prize (2000, Freiburg), 3rd prize (2000, Florence), 1st prize and golden plaque (2001, Ljubljana), 2nd prize and silver plaque (2005, Ljubljana), 2nd prize (2006, Florence), 1st prize (2007, Vienna) and others. In 2007, for portraying Princess Aurora in Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty, she was also awarded the special prize "Lydia Wisiak" by the Slovenian Association of Ballet Artists for outstanding merit in the art of ballet. In 2010, it received a special Tartini Award for outstanding cultural achievements that have contributed significantly to the cultural development and well-being of the municipality of Piran.
